Zorba dips into Chalcroft’s expertise

Pershore constructor Chalcroft has helped houmous producer Zorba Delicacies to extend its premises on the Rassau Industrial park in Ebbw Vale.

Demand among UK consumers for the chickpea-based savoury dip has apparently gone through the roof and producer Zorba is having to expand rapidly.

The facilities, which can make up to 40 different types of houmous, now include extra low care and high care areas, a new mezzanine floor and additional blast chillers.

The extension adds 8,000 sq ft to the existing 92,000 sq ft site. The 15-week project was carried out by Chalcroft, a food sector specialist which also carries out new-build and refurbishment projects for companies such as Coca-Cola, Bakkavor and Nestle Purina.

Chalcroft’s John Reeve said: “Zorba’s success has seen it being able to expand its production facilities and create work for 40 people, which is a superb story to tell in an otherwise harsh economic environment.”
