Manufacturers lined up for IME visits
Companies in the West Midlands are being given an opportunity to learn from the experiences of a quartet of manufacturers.
The Inside Manufacturing Enterprise (IME) Programme, which has been running since 2003, has announced its latest line-up of best practice factory tours that will tackle current industry challenges such as dealing with competition from the Far East, environmental issues, automation and supply chain development.
The first will take place at FARO UK tomorrow (17 November) looking at its contact measurement work with Coventry Prototype Panels, followed by visits to Alcon Components (managing operational change and business performance) and Gloucester-based Renishaw for tackling manufacturing processes and new product introduction.
Funded by the Manufacturing Advisory Service-West Midlands (MAS-WM) and delivered by Coventry University Enterprise, the programme will come to a close with a robotics demonstration at FANUC in Coventry.
Michelle Connors, IME project officer, said: "Our visits offer unique insights into the different issues and challenges facing companies in the region and how they have been overcome, warts and all.”
