Swimwear event for Leicestershire
Leicestershire is to host a national swimwear and performance sportswear seminar next year, it has been announced. The Association of Suppliers to the British Clothing Industry (ASBCI) event will generate more than £15,000 to the economy, it is claimed.
The announcement follows successful negotiations with the event bidding team at Leicester Shire Promotions.
About 120 delegates are expected at the one-day event at the Barcelo Hinckley Island Hotel in Leicestershire on 9 March 2011.
Julie King, from ASBCI, said: "We are delighted to be holding our event in Leicestershire. Leicester, Leicestershire and the East Midlands have long been associated with the textiles industry. This and the county's central location for our UK members made it the ideal choice for next year's event."
Martin Peters, chief executive of Leicester Shire Promotions, added: "Our event bidding team proactively targets national associations, groups and industries looking to hold major seminars, events and conferences in UK destinations. The opportunity to work with ASBCI was generated by discussions with key figures in the UK textile industry and we look forward to working with them in 2011 and for future events in Leicester and Leicestershire."
