Wolseley silent on sell-off claims
Leamington Spa-based builders' merchant Wolseley is remaining tight-lipped on reports it has appointed advisers to find a buyer for its specialist bathroom retailer Bathstore.
Reports over the weekend said the business had hired advisers to handle the sale with sources claiming Bathstore could sell between £70m and £90m.
But a spokesman told Insider: "As you can imagine, we've had a lot of calls on this. We don't comment on market speculation."
Wolseley said it aimed to sell 19 non-core businesses earlier this year. It has already sold tool hire firm Brandon Hire to Rutland Partners.
Bathstore's founder Patrick Riley founded the business in 1990 with current director Nico de Beer.
Bathstore was sold to Wolseley for an undisclosed sum in 2003. It currently has 170 stores.
