Longton to host media training programme

Staffordshire PR agency Richard Swancott Associates will hold a coaching programme in public relations. The event, to be held in Longton, Stoke on Trent, will be presented by Midlands Business Insider’s deputy editor Sam Metcalf.

The event, part of the Be Your Own PR programme, will be held in the lecture theatre at the 100-seater Sutherland Institute.

The event has been relocated from the Lymedale Business Centre to provide enough space for the 30 delegates currently on the programme, and following demand from local business owners.

Richard Swancott, creator of the programme and owner of Richard Swancott Associates, said: “The programme has had a very encouraging response in its first 12 months and we are looking to expand it into new areas next year.

“In the meantime though, we need to cater for our current delegates and the Lymedale Business Centre is not big enough on this occasion.

“Plus we are anticipating an increase in enquiries from people who’d like to know more about Midlands Business Insider.”

The two-hour session takes place on 22 November, between 12noon and 2pm. Places cost £60 + VAT.

The programme consists of 12 sessions, each covering a different aspect of PR. These include organising local media coverage, using social networking sites and putting together events on a limited budget.

A grant of up to £1,000 is available from Business Link West Midlands for business owners who would like to take part in the programme. The deadline for applications for this funding is 31 December 2010.
