City to unveil transport scheme

Share | |

A transport blueprint aiming to transform the way people travel into and around Birmingham will be launched on Thursday. A part of the Big City Plan, Vision for Movement will be unveiled by transport chiefs and councillors.

The proposals lay the foundations for a network of transit, rail, cycling and bus routes to encourage the city’s economic regeneration.

More than 200 people are expected to attend the launch, which will be held in the International Convention Centre.

Vision for Movement is a joint venture between the Business Improvement Districts (BIDs), Birmingham City Council and transport authority Centro.

The launch will be concluded with a question and answer session from a panel including Mike Whitby, the leader of Birmingham City Council, and Jerry Blackett, the chief executive of Birmingham Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
