Specialist immigration law firm Paragon Law has appointed a new associate solicitor. Ghuffar Usman joins the Nottingham-based firm from Cartwright King Solicitors.

At Cartwright King, Usman held the position of head of immigration law for four years.

As an associate at Paragon Law, Ghuffar will specialise in all aspects of personal, family and business immigration law, from advising on initial applications through to appeals to the Immigration and Asylum Chamber.

He will form part of the specialist private immigration team, advising clients on such matters as employer’s liability and licence applications and Tier 1-4 applications, through to family visit visa and compassionate/ discretionary applications outside of the immigration rules.

Usman said: “In the East Midlands and arguably the UK, it‘s only natural for any immigration lawyer to have at least considered a career at Paragon Law, and be a part of the renowned team that Thalej Vasishta has built.”

“The Legal Services Act will open up the competition in the legal market from 2012, and I wanted to be part of the team at Paragon before this time, as it’s recognised as a serious player with the strongest position in the niche sector of immigration.”

Paragon Law said that Usman’s appointment would be followed by the announcement of several senior level promotions at Paragon Law in the coming weeks.
