Build programme complete at Harborne Central
Birmingham Properties Group has completed the build programme at its £20m Harborne Central scheme. The development had been Chase Homes’ largest Midlands-based project when the housebuilder went into administration in July 2008.
The site is located in the centre of Harborne High Street which previously housed an All Electric car dealership.
Harborne Central comprises 16 townhouses and 64 apartments. The new homes were launched onto the market in October 2009 and over 60 per cent of the apartments have now been sold.
Birmingham Properties Group was appointed by Chase Homes’ administrator Deloitte in December 2008 and Fort Dunlop-based Linford Group was awarded the construction contract in January last year.
John Tebbutt, managing director of Birmingham Properties Group, said: “Harborne Central is a huge success story. Located in the centre of Harborne, the scale of the development presented a unique opportunity to capitalise on market demand in this sought after Victorian village.
"However, taking over a part-built construction site always presents challenges and from the outset our key priority was to ensure the build quality was to the very highest standard.”
Harborne Central also includes a 2,500 sq ft commercial unit, which is ready for fit-out. Birmingham Properties Group said it was “working with a number of interested parties” for a deal on the site, including high quality restaurant groups and retailers.
