Carillion wins £100m Oman contracts
The Oman arm of Wolverhampton-based Carillion has been awarded three construction contracts and a facilities management contract. The deals are worth more than £100m to the construction giant.
The largest of the three construction contracts is for the Ministry of Transport and Communication, to design and build a new air traffic control tower at Muscat International Airport. The company will also build a number of ancillary buildings, including an air traffic and meteorology complex, a crash, fire and rescue facility, a data centre and training facilities.
Work on delivering these new facilities, which form part of the expansion of Muscat International Airport, will start later this month and is scheduled for completion early in 2015.
Carillion Alawi has also been awarded two further construction contracts - a 13-month contract for Sahara Hospitality to extend the permanent accommodation facilities, and a nine-month contract for Khalid Al Zubair for an extension and associated works at the Barr Al Jissah Resort.
In addition, Carillion Alawi has secured a three-year integrated facilities management contract for Bank Muscat's new headquarters.
Carillion’s chief executive, John McDonough, said: "We are delighted that Carillion Alawi has been awarded these prestigious contracts, which reflect its well-established reputation for quality and delivery in Oman's strong construction market and its growing presence in the emerging facilities management market in Oman. We look forward to working with our customers to deliver and manage their outstanding new facilities."
