The former chairman of communications giant Motorola has joined Derby-based Team Telecom Group (TTG) as non-executive director. Sir David Brown has been recruited to the telecommunications group, which has just celebrated contract wins in Australia, America and the Far East.

Sir David is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering; a Chartered Engineer and Honorary Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology; and an Honorary Fellow of the Chartered Quality Institute.

He said: “The continued growth and success of the global telecommunications industry is testament to the cutting edge research, technical expertise and quality people we have both here in the UK and across the world. TTG is at the forefront of this, with a reputation for delivering first class communications systems, tailored solutions and customer service. I am delighted to be joining them at this time, and contributing to their future plans for growth and development.”

Earlier this year, TTG announced its £32.8m management buyout from its parent company Spice. The deal was backed by Gresham Private Equity and HSBC.

The company is now headed up by chief executive Mike Norfield and chairman Peter Burridge.

TTG comprises radio communications specialists Team Simoco based in Derby and ComGroup in Victoria, Australia, which form Simoco Group; AirRadio in West Drayton, Middlesex; and Indigo Telecom Group in Monmouthshire, Wales.
