British Airways World Cargo (BAWC) has renewed its contract with Northampton-based Norbert Dentressangle for a further five years. The logistics provider operates BAWC’s 69,000 sq ft Perishables Handling Centre at Heathrow Airport.

The company was originally appointed by BAWC in 1998.

Norbert Dentressangle will continue its role transferring fresh produce from BAWC’s three London gateways at Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted to the Handling Centre.

Open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, the fully chilled facility is the largest chilled airfreight distribution centre in the UK and is designed to allow growers and producers around the world to reach their markets faster and keep their products fresher.

In 2010, the centre is expected to handle around 120,000 tonnes of fresh produce including fruits, vegetables, flowers, prepared foods, seafood, meat, fish and dairy products.
