Barker Ross launches advice division
East Midlands' recruitment agency Barker Ross has launched a new advisory service. The agency said the new service will help employers prepare for the Agency Workers Regulations 2010, which come into force next year.
Barker Ross has offices in Lincoln, Leicester and Nottingham.
The regulations, which give new rights to agency workers after 12 weeks’ work, will be introduced in October 2011 with draft guidance expected to be published by March.
Barker Ross will be conducting company reviews to find out what impact the regulations will have, and whether companies need to restructure their business models to negate or minimise cost.
Barker Ross chief executive Paul Ross said: “With the regulations now less than a year away, businesses that use agency workers need to start looking now at how the new rules might affect them.
“By planning ahead and talking to their recruitment agencies, employers can avoid misinterpreting the rules. Implementing equal treatment does not necessarily entail a significant impact on direct costs or increase the likelihood of tribunals, but that is the risk if companies don’t start preparing now.”
Under the new rules, agency workers will be entitled to the same levels of pay, rest breaks and annual leave as permanent employees.
