Santander to create 150 jobs in Leicestershire
Banking giant Santander has “no immediate plans” to create another 375 jobs in Leicestershire, Insider has learnt. Despite recent reports, a spokesman said that only 150 job opportunities would be made available in the near future.
Santander’s spokesman Andy Smith said that 50 new jobs would be created within local branches, and another 100 roles would be recruited for at the company’s Carlton Park call centre in Leicester.
The spokesman confirmed: “There is a potential for the creation of up to 375 jobs in the region – however, we are only announcing 150. It’s a case of if, rather than when, the remaining roles will be created."
Of the Carlton park site, he said: "The site currently employs 1,800 staff and has capacity for 2,200. As the bank grows, it may need more staff, and if it does, Santander will look to use the capacity it has in sites such as Carlton Park before opening new sites in the UK."
Recent reports suggested that the bank would create almost 400 jobs in the region.
