Northcliffe Media 'to axe more than 50 jobs'
The Nottingham hub of Northcliffe Media is “under threat”, according to reports. Between 50 and 70 jobs have been earmarked for the axe throughout the country.
According to reports, the Nottingham, Stoke and Plymouth hubs are “the most under threat”.
Northcliffe media produces regional newspapers, including the Nottingham Evening Post and the Leicester Mercury.
It is thought that the two Midlands hubs could be disbanded, with only a 'virtual hub' retained.
The publisher is reportedly planning a reduction in the number of sub editors it currently employs. This would mean that reporters at some centres would write stories directly onto the page, as is already the case at Johnston Press and Archant.
Staff are currently waiting to be told how many jobs will be cut, but it is thought to be between 50 and 70.
