Education trust moves to Newhall Street
Property developer RO St Bernards has let 144 Newhall Street, Birmingham, to Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT). The non-profit organisation, which aims to raise educational standards, has taken the whole of the refurbished building, comprising 4,288 sq ft.
The trust sponsors 11 academies, including three in Sandwell and one in Walsall. A twelfth Academy, the Birmingham Ormiston Academy for creative, digital and performing arts, is planned to open in Digbeth next year.
All staff will now transfer to 144 Newhall Street from Ormiston’s existing home in nearby Caroline Street.
Ian Cleland, chief executive of OAT, said: “As part of its expansion, OAT is moving to these new premises which will allow it to respond more flexibly to the needs of its network. The facilities enable us to offer on-site training and will bring all parts of the company on to one site, developing our capacity to support schools and academies.”
144 Newhall Street is part of the £63m mixed-used Newhall Square scheme.
