Barratt joins forces with Morrisons for SW venture
Coalville-headquartered Barratt Developments has joined forces with Hallam Land Management and Morrisons to invest in a mixed-use regeneration scheme in Bridgwater, Somerset. Two thousand new homes are set to be built as part of the project.
The housebuilder has secured planning permission for up to 1.2 million sq ft (110,000 sq m) of employment floorspace at the North East Bridgwater project.
Together with infrastructure improvements, the development is set to provide 2,500 jobs, a commercial services centre, retail opportunities, a primary school and 2,000 new homes.
The proposals include detailed approval for a 807,000 sq ft (75,000 sq m) Morrisons regional distribution centre to serve its South West network of stores.
The planning permission, which was granted by Sedgemoor District Council in July, also gave approval for the first 400 of 2,000 homes to be constructed on the site.
