Volks drives expansion with move

Volks Service Repair and Recovery is moving to larger premises on a Coventry industrial estate. The family-run business is relocating to a 2,800 sq ft unit in The Arches.

The company, which relocated from unit two to unit eight in the Spon End industrial estate, said it wanted to create a larger workshop and customer reception area.

Volks Service Repair and Recovery specialises in repairing Volkswagen, Audi, Seat and Skoda vehicles.

Robert Howard, founder of the company, said: “Work is coming in thick and fast and we couldn’t fit all the cars in the workshop so we needed to move.

“I think people are hanging on to their cars and maintaining them rather than trying to upgrade them because if you upgrade, then it usually involves getting a car loan and credit isn’t as easy to obtain with the credit crunch.”

Howard employs four mechanics and plans to create another vacancy in the near future.

“My long-term aim is to have an MoT bay which is why we have added customer facilities at the new unit including settees and a television,” Howard added.

“This is an up-and-coming estate and the new owner Tony Harris has some great ideas. It is a great location near the city centre and everyone knows where The Arches is.”
