Trojan powers on with council investment

A Birmingham-based corporate clothing company has received a £150,000 boost from the city council. Trojan UK secured the investment following a major deal in which the company was named preferred supplier to British Gas.

The company, which develops safety conscious corporate clothing, said it had expanded “dramatically” since it was taken over two years ago. The investment will be used to keep pace with a significant increase in orders, said managing director Rob Righton.

Tojan’s turnover last year increased by 50 per cent to £3.3m thanks in part to its contract with British Gas.

Birmingham Council’s £10m fund, which is administered by local agent Investbx, was set up to help businesses in the city create jobs against the background of recession. Trojan UK was granted £150,000 to assist with its expansion.

Rob Righton said: "Our success has been considerable on any scale and such growth requires significant investment and financial stability. This city council funding will help us to further press ahead with our ambitious plans."
