Shares up at Blacks amidst takeover speculation
Shares in Blacks Leisure leapt 25 per cent after the company confirmed it was in discussions over potential takeover bids. The Northampton-based company confirmed that it is in “preliminary discussions” with several parties regarding a possible acquisition.
In a statement to the London Stock Exchange, Blacks said: “The board confirms that it is in preliminary discussions with several parties regarding either a possible offer for the company or an offer to acquire certain of the company's trading activities and related assets.
“There is no certainty that any formal offers will be forthcoming or as to the terms on which any such offer might be made.”
Shares in the company rose to 43 pence each following the takeover speculation.
The Blacks Leisure group includes the Millets and Blacks Outdoor brands.
