Carlton Laser cuts MBO deal

Share | |

Leicester-based Carlton Laser Services has undergone a management buyout (MBO). The sheet metal engineer said the MBO was part of its “ambitious expansion plans”.

The deal was led by part-owner and operations director Mohan Jassi, who bought out Carlton’s majority-owner and managing director Dennis Kent.

The buyout follows a £1.4m investment in new plant and machinery made by the company during the past two years.

Roy Botterill, head of corporate at Midlands’ law firm Harvey Ingram, advised the MBO alongside Mike Ball and Keith Richard at RSM Tenon’s Leicester office.

Botterill said: “Carlton Laser clearly dispels the myth that manufacturing no longer exists in the UK. It’s an extremely efficient, competitive and well-run business that will continue to be at the forefront of its industry. It also typifies the sort of company that will help lead the country out of recession. We’re delighted to have delivered this deal on behalf of Carlton Laser and be a part of its on-going success story.”
