Nottinghamshire engineers join forces

Nottinghamshire-based Thomas Bow and City Asphalt have announced they will merge their services. The Nottinghamshire-based engineering contractors will create a larger company with “more clout”.

The civil engineering and highway contractors will combine operations and have rebranded as Thomas Bow City Asphalt.

Managing director Alastair Bow said: “Both Thomas Bow and City Asphalt are very strong brands in their own rights. Consequently, having taken the decision to have one logo that covers both, we opted for Thomas Bow City Asphalt as our trading name.”

“As independent businesses in their specialist fields, they were comparatively small but when you bring all our companies together, we have an operation turning over £14m a year.

“I believe the re-brand sets us up for an exciting future and although you can never afford to be complacent, I’m very happy with where we are at the moment. The last 12 months have been extremely good for us - despite the tough economic climate - and I expect that to continue for the foreseeable future.”

The company said that major framework contracts with Nottingham City Council, Nottinghamshire County Council, Kirklees Council and City of Wakefield Metropolitan District Council have been "key" to both companies' expansion.

It is also now the preferred contractor for the likes of Humberside Airport, Taylor Wimpeys, and Bellway Homes.
