Handicare elevates with expansion

A stairlift manufacturer has expanded its Black Country base for the fifth time. Handicare has secured a 21,495 sq ft unit at the Pensnett Estate in Kingswinford, which is owned and managed by London and Cambridge Property (LCP).

It is the fifth time it has expanded there and it now occupies a total of 81,794 sq ft.

Since 2001, the company has increased its workforce from 53 to 205 at the site.

The company supplies over half the UK’s stairlifts that are funded by local authority disability grants and it is also the preferred supplier to Age UK’s commercial arm.

Chief executive Mike Lord said: “We needed more space to accommodate our growing business, both for our manufacturing side and office space for our customer service team. We have had double digit growth year on year since we have been on the estate.

“Everyone here is focused on providing great service for our customers, that has been the key focus of all we do. Our products – whether stairlifts or bathing hoists or other aids – improve people’s lives and they are highly dependent on them. They need to be of the right quality and reliability because they are so important to the people who use them either in their own homes or in care homes.”
