Factory rebuilt after blaze

Share | |

Bowers and Freeman is back “to full capacity” a year after half its factory was burnt down. The Leicester-based graphic tooling company has spent £750,000 on replacing machinery and repairs to the building.

After the seven-hour blaze in Saffron Road, the company was left with half of its working space. Staff worked in temporary accommodation, and gaining planning permission to rebuild the factory was “slow”, said bosses.

A year on, the business has moved back into the rebuilt premises with its 22 employees.

Dean Oldham, a business manager at the firm’s insurance brokers Brett & Randall, said: “There are always challenges with major claims. A disaster like this could have been the death knell for many companies, but we have seen them through.”
