The Travel Club goes bust
A Birmingham-headquartered travel company is the latest victim of the austere spending climate. The Travel Club and its subsidiary Austria Travel have entered administration after failing to pay their accommodation suppliers.
The Travel Club provided hotel and apartment accommodation primarily in Majorca and Portugal, whilst its subsidiary offered accommodation in Austria.
Conrad Beighton and Steve Ryman, of Birmingham-based Shipleys, have been appointed joint administrators on the case.
In a statement, the administrators said: “The companies are unable to continue trading as a result of an inability to meet guaranteed payments to key overseas accommodation suppliers.”
The companies fell into administration after travel accountant Messrs Ellman Wall failed to find an interested buyer.
Shipleys, which has taken control of both companies’ affairs, said that customers who have made future bookings with either business may be able to recover their funds if they have paid by credit card.
