Coventry companies discuss Far East trading
Coventry businesses have been given the opportunity to learn about the benefits of trading with China through a nationwide teleconference. The discussion was hosted by the city’s Yorkshire Bank Financial Solutions Centre (FSC).
Peter Buckley, professor of international business and director of the Centre for International Business at the University of Leeds, and Giles Blackburne, director of the China-Britain Business Council, were the key speakers during the national teleconference.
About 14 companies from Coventry joined Yorkshire Bank’s regional director Brian Colquhoun to question Professor Buckley and Blackburne on how they can build relationships in the Far East and discuss the importance of creating international trading links.
Colquhoun said: “The Chinese economy is the second largest globally and the country overtook Germany as the world's largest exporter last year therefore the opportunities available to Coventry companies are vast. However, setting up a presence in the region can be difficult and the complex legislation can often put businesses off from investigating further.
“Having two leading experts on China available offered our customers the opportunity to receive a comprehensive overview of how their companies can benefit from working in or trading with one of the most important economies in the world.”
