MTC recruits Morgan

Terry Morgan has been appointed as the new chairman of the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) in Warwickshire.

The MTC, based at Ansty Park, is a collaboration between academia, research organisations and industry.

Morgan said: "Much of my working life has been involved in manufacturing and I care passionately about the contribution that manufacturing should bring to the UK economy.

"The MTC can help develop a more competitive manufacturing capability in the UK at a time it needs it most. The MTC is a centre of excellence to bridge the gap between the capabilities of universities and applications that industry can use. This is a unique opportunity I want to contribute to."

He is a non-executive director of MJ Gleeson and of Mitie Group, and also sits on the board of Gateway to London and the London Skills and Employment Board.

Morgan is also the chairman of Crossrail, the railway between London and the South East. He was appointed to the position in June 2009, and will continue in the role. He was previously chief executive of Tube Lines, and prior to that was group managing director of the operations division at BAE Systems. Before moving to BAE, he was managing director of Land Rover.
