Gallagher parking venture races into expansion

Share | |

The latest venture in the JJ Gallagher construction dynasty is already expanding, Insider has learnt. Gallan Parking, the car parking division of the Gallagher-run company Gallan, has acquired 18 sites across the country and is now close to signing deals in Sheffield and Manchester.

The Birmingham-based parking subsidiary, run by managing director Phillip Grant, has become a source of immediate income for the development company.

Grant said: “We realised we could make a lot of immediate income from the car parking division – developers are always the last to get paid in any project, and sometimes it’s two or three years before we see any return.”

The company is currently seeking sites from across the country, and have acquired vacant land and existing car parks. It is about the open the largest car park in Leamington Spa, which holds more than 300 cars.

Grant added that the company was looking at a site in Norwich, and had found its newest sites in Sheffield and Manchester.

“We’re a one-stop shop with this project; we manage everything from the litter picking to discussions with the Highways Agency. Because it’s such a widespread project, we’ve really been able to expand and have taken on three new employees in the last month.”

The three Gallagher brothers are the third generation to mange the JJ Gallagher empire, which includes property, development and parking.
