West Mids ICT companies on red alert for €780m funding
West Midlands ICT companies have been alerted to a new €780m funding pot from the EU. The funding was unveiled at the ICT 2010-Digitally Driven conference.
The West Midlands ICT Cluster’s (ICTWM) Bridging the Opportunity Gap (BtOG) initiative is offering support to local businesses that wish to apply for the funding.
BtOG is supported by the European Regional Development Fund and will run until March 2011.
Hugo Russell, project manager of BtOG, said: "Our objective is to identify SMEs who are best placed to benefit from EU funding, advise them of potential opportunities and provide the necessary support to help them win.
"Over €50bn of EU funding is currently available to support various types of collaborative projects each of which could be valued from €50,000 to €20m, with individual partners receiving differing levels of support.
"Our target is to assist a minimum of five ICT SMEs, new to the European funding arena, to become involved in successful EU projects and bring additional funding of up to €500,000 into the region."
BtOG is available to all ICT small businesses in the region, but focuses on RFID, mobile and wireless technologies, informatics and IT security companies.
