Birmingham slips down rankings

Share | |

Birmingham has dropped four places in property consultancy Cushman & Wakefield’s European Cities Monitor. It has slipped from 14th place last year to 18th in the 2010 rankings.

And to add insult to injury it has been leapfrogged by northern rival Manchester.

The ECM survey is based on the views of more than 500 senior executives from Europe’s largest companies. It provides an overview of the perceptions that corporate occupiers have about the various cities of Europe.

The data also produces various other rankings, and Birmingham’s best performance is in ‘best city in terms of availability of office space’, where it is fourth equal with London, compared to fifth a year ago. The city also ranked fifth, behind Leeds and Glasgow for "best city in terms of value for money and office space".

The survey result was announced as the Birmingham Office Market Forum released its quarter three central Birmingham office take up figures. Its figures show that 262,050 sq ft of space was taken up in 46 deals.
