Parker Hannifin mulls Midlands plant closure
Warwick's Parker Hannifin has announced the possible closure of operations in Derby and Halesowen. The Derby facility employs 110 people, while 11 work at the Halesowen plant.
The company has entered a 90-day period of consultation with staff and representatives ahead of the proposed closure.
A European tube fittings division in Derby and forge in the Parker Sales UK hose assembly facility in Halesowen are the affected business areas.
The company said: "The European tube fitting division operates within a market that continues to be characterised by aggressive competition offering products at ever lowering prices.
"As a consequence, to improve the long term competitive position of the SAE products, and improve the performance of the division, the tube fitting division is proposing to phase out manufacturing of its products at these plants and to consolidate it within its other manufacturing locations."
