The Conservative Party Conference will have a positive impact for the region, according to the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce. The conference is taking place from Sunday to Wednesday at the ICC in Birmingham. The Hyatt Regency is the conference hotel.

Jerry Blackett, Birmingham Chamber of Commerce Group chief executive, said: "At the 2008 Conservative conference in Birmingham, the economic impact amounted to £15m with a media impact of £13m.

“We are expecting up to 14,000 delegates in the city which is a key opportunity for us to showcase Birmingham to the world, as the place to do business.

“There will be 500 fringe events, four of which Birmingham Chamber Group will host. We will be exploring accelerated development zones, local enterprise partnerships, spending cuts and the economic outlook.

“The conference is a chance for all businesses in the city to make a real impact on future policy.”

City hotels will experience 100 per cent occupancy over the period.
