Manned guarding company Axis Security has opened its new regional operations centre in Birmingham. The company said that the move could create up to 75 jobs in the first year of business.

Axis has moved into a new office in Longbridge, on the site of the former Rover plant.

It has regional branches in Hounslow, Manchester, Rotherham, Bristol, Newcastle, Livingstone and Belfast, and says it is looking to replicate this business model in the Midlands.

Suzanne Averis, commercial manager for the region, said: “Our new office in Longbridge sends a clear signal to our customers and potential customers that we are serious about their business, and serious about providing the level of local support they need to deliver a first class service.”

Averis confirmed that 75 jobs could be created in the first year as the company recruits new licensed security officers, and said this figure “might treble over the next two to three years”.

She said: “The closure of the plant left a great mark on the area and its people, but with businesses like ours now investing in the area there is renewed hope and optimism. Longbridge has a bright future ahead which Axis is proud to be a part of.”
