Full house on The Strand
The Strand in Derby has a tenant leased to every unit for the first time in four years. Marketing Derby said that the area was helped by the recent £1m scheme to restore historic Victorian shop fronts.
The organisation said that the scheme “has helped attract new tenants and the area is vibrant once again”.
Gesso and Bole is the latest business to open up on the street after completing its £50,000 fit-out of 30 The Strand. Formerly a shoe shop, 30 The Strand had its shop front refurbished in a traditional style as part the City Centre Grant Scheme.
Martin Roper, who owns Scenario Menswear on The Strand, said: "Every single shop has a quality tenant in for the first time in many years, which is excellent, and also there's such a diversity of retailers. All the shop fronts look fantastic and it has encouraged retail."
