Sunlight decision deferred

Share | |

A decision on plans to build a convenience store with cafe and parking in Sneinton has been deferred. The £15m scheme is for the site of the former Sunlight Laundry on the corner of Daleside Road and Trent Lane with the main entrance facing the roundabout at the junction of the two roads.

Developer Cedar House Investments has set aside £1.2m to spend on schemes including improvements to Hermitage Square, environmental and landscape changes, contributions towards a new pedestrian footbridge over the railway line, a new shoplink bus service and employment and training opportunities

A decision on the outline planning application was postponed at the City Council's Development Control Committee so that councillors could have more information. They asked for more details about the shoplink bus service, the impact on other local shopping centres, the prospect of a railway pedestrian crossing being provided and how Section 106 money provided as part of the development for neighbouring environmental and community improvements would be spent.

Simon Smales, Nottingham City Council's interim director of city planning, said: "Councillors had a long and very useful discussion about this proposal and will be provided with this further information they have asked for. I anticipate the application could be considered again at next month's committee meeting on 20 October."
