Orbit Homes, the development and sales arm of Orbit Group, has been awarded a total of £38.2m in funding over the past year. The investment, from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), is the largest sum given to a housing association developer in the West Midlands this year.

The funding has contributed towards more than 600 new homes for the region.

Coventry-based Orbit Homes was awarded the funding from the HCA in 2009/10. A total of 34.1m was invested in building homes for social rent and £4.1m was granted to build homes for low-cost home ownership.

The grant has enabled the developer to build 507 homes for social rent and 106 homes for low cost home ownership across the West Midlands.

Managing director of Orbit Homes, Paul High, said: “We are very proud to have been awarded the largest amount of funding in the West Midlands last year, but more than that, are proud to have been able to deliver these high quality, affordable homes to those who need them.

“By investing in the region and in the people of the West Midlands, we hope to continue fulfilling our aim of building brighter futures for people and communities.”
