Herbert Baggaley begin £4.5m crematorium build
Mansfield-based construction company Herbert Baggaley has started work on a new £4.5m crematorium and cemetery for Dignity Crematoria in Worcestershire.
The 27-acre Greenfield site is located between Kidderminster and Stourport-on-Severn.
The new facility will include a chapel, floral tribute areas and offices as well as landscaped grounds. The crematorium is being built in collaboration with Wyre Forest District Council.
The building will be supported by a steel frame incorporating both curved concave and convex roofs, and will be covered using a VMZinc system made from plywood, insulation and zinc.
The construction company said it would be working alongside Parkwood Environmental ecologist Kevin Salmon to preserve the wildlife on the site.
Ian Baggaley, managing director of Baggaley, said: “We are delighted to be working with Dignity and Parkwood Consultancy Services again having successfully completed a similar project with them in Rotherham.”
The first phase of the project is due for completion in November with the second phase completed in April 2011.
