Harrison Clark in school merger deal
Worcester-based Harrison Clark Solicitors' education team has overseen the merger of two Kenilworth schools. The law firm, which also has an office in Cheltenham, acted for the board of governors during the acquisition of Abbotsford School, Kenilworth, by Crackley Hall.
The two schools have integrated to become one primary school for children aged two to 11 in Kenilworth.
Richard Wilkey, partner at Harrison Clark, who led the legal aspects of the merger, said: “Abbotsford is a good school with a fantastic reputation and history. Unfortunately, the competition from surrounding schools and general economic pressures meant that strategically both schools were looking for a way to strengthen their respective positions.”
Chairman of Abbotsford’s Council of Management Peter Rush added: “Abbotsford and Crackley Hall share a similar ethos and are both well known for their high standards of teaching. By combining the values of the two schools we believe that we can build something stronger than the sum of the parts; a new broader and enriched school which cares for and challenges its pupils, offering a wider range of opportunities, preparing them even better for the future.”
