Developer to re-submit £25m Peak Park plans

Litton Properties, based in Bakewell, is in the process of re-submitting revised plans for the Riverside Business Park in Bakewell. The property company is at the same time lodging an appeal against the Peak District National Park Authority's (PDNPA) decision, which refused to grant planning permission for the £25m riverside regeneration scheme in February.

The company was refused planning permission in February, a decision which it says “put the future of the scheme at risk”.

Commenting on the decision to appeal the decision and to re-submit plans, Litton Properties' managing director Mark Twelves said: ''We were extremely disappointed in February when our scheme was rejected for planning, following an exhaustive nine-year design and application process.

''It has taken time to re-assess the scheme in light of this set back but we have now decided to both appeal the Peak Park's decision and to re-submit revised plans. We remain committed to regenerating this important site and creating a first class business environment, which we truly feel is important to help the future prosperity of the town and surrounding villages.

''We have a number of key tenants who have all expressed concerns about the viability of remaining on the site if our plans are rejected again, which would have a devastating effect on local employment. We understand the PDNPA remains supportive and we very much hope that the minor changes we feel we can make will this time gain the support of the planning committee's members.''

A decision from the PDNPA is anticipated in early 2011.
