Century Lighting buys second unit
Lighting specialist Century Lighting has purchased a second warehouse and distribution unit on the £12m Target Park development in Redditch. The move comes following a major contract win to provide energy-efficient lighting to NHS hospitals nationwide.
Century Lighting has taken Unit 11, which comprises 10,097 sq ft of office space, on the business park. The property adjoins Century's current premises in Unit 12, which is 8,911 sq ft. the company bought the premises last year, and has now more than doubled its space on the Shawbank Road Lakeside development.
The company said the additional office space will create five new jobs.
Century acted on behalf of itself in the deal, and Ian Parker of property consultancy John Trustlove acted for the joint owners, Oakham Developments and Abacus Developments.
The company said it expects to be in full operation by November, after new offices have been built.
Managing director Mark Rolph said: "Business is going very well. We are currently undertaking an expansion programme in the lighting specification market, the highlight being the contract for the NHS, but also contracts for many High Street retailers.”
