Lincolnshire law firms agree to merger
Lincolnshire law firm Sills & Betteridge said it is “poised for expansion” following its merger with Sleaford-based solicitors Godsons. Godsons, with offices in Northgate, will now be known as Sills & Betteridge to incorporate Godsons.
The merger will become operative from 1 October.
Sills & Betteridge has offices in Lincoln, Boston, Coningsby, Spilsby and now Sleaford. The merged companies will have a total workforce of 143, comprising 31 partners and 112 support staff.
Sills & Betteridge said the move will strengthen its presence in the county, “particularly in the Sleaford and Woodhall Spa areas”. The firm recently celebrated its 250th anniversary.
Andrew Payne, Sills & Betts’ senior partner, said: “We are delighted with this merger. Godsons are a long established firm with an excellent reputation. The addition of their practice, partners and staff to our own will undoubtedly strengthen our position in the legal marketplace. Sleaford is an expanding market town and the opportunity to increase our geographical spread here is an important step in our expansion plans."
“We have enjoyed a good close relationship with Sills & Betteridge partners for many years and see the merger as a good fit and we feel very positive about the future,” said Stephen Swift, senior partner at Godsons.
