East Midlands Trains tops punctuality table
East Midlands Trains, part of Stagecoach Group, is Britain’s most punctual long-distance rail operator, according to the latest official performance data.
Figures released by Network Rail for the period 25 July to 21 August show East Midlands Trains’ punctuality was 93.9 per cent.
The regional train company has been top of the long-distance operator league table for punctuality since January 2009.
East Midlands trains improved on its performance 12 months ago, when its punctuality was 92.8 per cent.
Mark Steward, operations director for East Midlands Trains, said: “We are pleased our passengers are continuing to get the best punctuality of any long-distance operator in the country.
“We have made huge advances right across the network since taking over responsibility for the franchise in November 2007 and these figures reflect the investment we have made in our operation and our fleet, the joint working with Network Rail and the hard work of our own employees.”
The report comes in the same week that Nottingham took the title of the UK city least dependant upon cars as a form of transport.
