Affordable housing site gets go-ahead
Fifty-seven new affordable homes are to be built in Stratford-on-Avon. Planning permission has been granted to Birmingham-based development consultant CSJ Brooke Smith, for the demolition of 38 old homes, which will be replaced with new houses and bungalows.
CSJ Brooke Smith acted on behalf of Orbit Housing Association to secure planning consent for the redevelopment, which is centred on Glebe Road to the north west of the town.
The consultant was granted planning permission from Stratford-on-Avon District Council.
The existing 38 properties, which have been deemed unfit for purpose, will be replaced by 57 two-, three- and four-bedroom homes. Plans for the site also include the addition of bungalows to meet demands of the existing residents.
It is anticipated that the development will receive grant funding from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).
The scheme was shortlisted for a Royal Town Planning Institute Regional Award as an example of good planning practice with the public and private sectors working successfully together.
