700 jobs to go at Connaught

Administrators of troubled Connaught Partnerships have confirmed that about 700 jobs will be lost. The losses were revealed following announcements that 2,500 staff would transfer to Staffordshire-based Lovell Partnerships, the affordable housing division of Morgan Sindall Group, which bought the majority of Connaught’s contracts last week.

Connaught Partnerships is a social housing provider headquartered in Leeds. Its parent company, Connaught, is based in Exeter. The partnership division also has a hub based in Bromsgrove.

The company's administrators, KPMG, said were unable to release further details about the locations of affected staff, but would “make further announcements as soon as possible”.

Brian Green, restructuring partner at KPMG and joint administrator, said: “Immediately following appointment we conducted a commercial review of the staffing needs of the business and shortly thereafter took the decision to make around 700 staff redundant.”

“The administrators continue to negotiate the novation of the remaining contracts to other providers and remain hopeful that further staff within Connaught Partnerships will be transferred to alternative providers.”

The majority of staff members affected were informed of the developments by phone call on Thursday.

Connaught Partnerships employed around 4,400 staff at the time the administrators were appointed.

Connaught Environmental and Connaught Compliance continue to trade as normal.
