Loughborough developer begins work on housing scheme
William Davis, the contractor and developer based in Loughborough, has begun work on a £17m housing scheme in Rugby. The development, which has been partly funded by a grant from the Homes and Communities Agency, will include 120 new homes.
William Davis is working on the project in collaboration with Orbit Homes, based in Coventry.
The 120 homes which are being constructed on the site will comprise 42 two-bedroom houses, 72 three-bedroom houses and six four-bedroom houses. Of these, 65 will be for rent, 27 for shared ownership and 28 for intermediate rent.
Orbit Homes will be selling the shared ownership properties, whilst its partner, Orbit Heart of England, will manage the rental properties.
The new houses will be completed in three phases, the first phased completions being in November 2011, the second in February 2012 and the third in April 2012.
Guy Higgins, managing director of William Davis, said: “It is always a proud moment to witness the first soil being turned at a new development but we are especially pleased to be here today, not only to mark the beginnings of this fantastic project but also to celebrate the steadfast relationship that we have with our partners Orbit Homes.
“The creation of a new community in Long Lawford is testament to our long standing association and the 120 new homes and their occupants will energise and invigorate this area of Rugby.”
