Rugby housing development gets underway
Work has begun on a new housing development site in Long Lawford, Rugby. The £17m development is a partnership project between Orbit Homes, based in Coventry, and Loughborough-based contractor and developer William Davis.
It is being partially funded by a grant from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA).
The 120 homes which are being constructed on the site will comprise 42 two-bedroom houses, 72 three-bedroom houses and six four-bedroom houses. Of these, 65 will be for rent, 27 for shared ownership and 28 for intermediate rent.
Orbit Homes will be selling the shared ownership properties, whilst its partner, Orbit Heart of England, will manage the rental properties.
The new houses will be completed in three phases, the first phased completions being in November 2011, the second in February 2012 and the third in April 2012.
Andy Spencer, area manager for the HCA West Midlands, said: “We are delighted to be supporting this project to bring much-needed affordable housing to Rugby and will continue to work with the council, Orbit and William Davis to deliver this exciting scheme for the communities in and around Long Lawford”.
