Moog plans £15m move

Share | |

Actuation Systems company Moog has today confirmed plans to move its Wolverhampton flight controls business from the current location on Wobaston Road to a new-build facility on the i54 technology park in Wolverhampton. The move, which will cost £15m, will safeguard about 400 jobs for the region.

The company has submitted a planning application to South Staffordshire District Council today. The application asks for permission to build a new facility to house design, development and manufacturing activities for aircraft controls.

The application is due to be considered on 9 November.

Stuart Mclachlan, director and general manager at Moog, said: "This is a key strategic move for Moog, providing the opportunity to build a first class facility which will allow us to support and build on our market leading position."

Advantage West Midlands (AWM) expects to offer financial support for the move. Discussions with Moog are “ongoing”, according to the regional development agency, and a further announcement is expected by the end of September.
