Potenza signs Malaysian deal
Potenza Sports Cars, based in Birmingham, has signed a joint venture agreement with Malaysian corporation DRB HICOM. The two companies will create a new business which will manufacture and distribute sports cars.
Potenza Sports Cars, which owns GTM Cars and Westfield Sports Cars, will create a range of sports cars for the domestic and Asia-Pacific market in collaboration with DRB HICOM.
Julian Turner, managing director of Westfield Sportscars, a subsidiary of Potenza, said he is “optimistic that the partnership will see development of new sports cars available with conventional, electric and hybrid power trains”.
Comined sales estimated to undergo a five-fold increase from the current 400 cars produced per year within the next three years.
The Potenza agreement is the latest in a string of deals made by the DRB HICOM group. It has previously entered into arrangements with car manufacturers such as Audi, Mercedes Benz, Honda, Suzuki and Mitsubishi.
