Needham & James advises Europe deal

Share | |

Midlands law firm Needham & James has advised water technology company BWT, headquartered in Austria, on its acquisition of Culligan International (UK). Andrew Smith, head of the corporate team at the firm’s Stratford office, said that the deal was “an important milestone in BWT’s geographic expansion in Europe”.

Culligan is a subsidiary of the US-based Culligan Group, which supplies water treatment products such as softeners and filtration systems.

Smith added: “The acquired business has a good market position in the field of domestic water treatment, with plumbers and merchants as its main customers. The acquisition represents an ideal launch pad for BWT into the UK and we were delighted to be given the opportunity to work with them to achieve their goal.”

Following the recent merger between Needham & James and Birmingham law firm Shakespeare Putsman, the legal team also included James Barr and Martin Noble from Shakespeare Putsman’s commercial department.

The sum of the deal was not disclosed.
