Jam Jar Shop up for national award
A Rutland-based company which sells jam jars has been named one of the East’s top new companies in the HSBC Start-Up Stars Awards. Jam Jar Shop will now compete for a £30,000 prize in the national finals of the competition.
Rosemary Jameson and Trevor Lorkings started Jam Jar Shop in August 2009. The company sells jam jars, which have largely been produced in the UK.
The company recently signed a contract with the British Hardware Federation, which will mean their products will be stocked in cookery shops and hardware stores throughout the UK.
The husband-and-wife team say they can see “huge potential for expanding into overseas markets” such as Australia and the USA, and that trading abroad will be their next step.
The final of the HSCB Start-Up Stars Awards will be held on 18 October, when more than 300 business professionals will meet at London’s Dorchester Hotel to hear the names of the national winners.
