PwC reaps benefit of investing in business

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has reported increased turnover of £2.33bn for the year to 30 June, up 4 per cent on its 2009 performance. Mark Smith, regional chairman of PwC in the Midlands, said the global business consultancy had delivered "a strong, solid set" of results.

Pre-tax profit at PwC, which has an office in Birmingham, was slightly down at £665m, a decrease of 3.3 per cent on the previous year.

PwC recently promoted three new partners and ten new directors in the Midlands, and the firm will also be recruiting 90 graduates later this month.

Smith said: "Given the tough economic and market backdrop, we have delivered a good, solid set of results here in the Midlands, which are in line with those reported at a national level.

"The last financial year has seen the firm working closely with local companies and across the public sector to help our clients navigate through the recession and prepare for opportunities that should arise as the UK returns to positive, albeit modest, growth."
